Philips and Edith Cowan University Australia have joined forces to prepare the future healthcare professionals to effectively utilize emerging technologies.

Philips (NYSE: PHG, AEX: PHIA) and Edith Cowan University Australia (ECU) have announced a strategic partnership aimed at enhancing clinical ultrasound training for healthcare professionals to improve patient care. With healthcare challenges becoming more complex, 71% of healthcare leaders in APAC are concerned about staff shortages leading to delays in patient care. As technology in healthcare advances, training and education for healthcare professionals are essential for digital upskilling and continuous learning.
The partnership between Philips and ECU will focus on developing a comprehensive curriculum for ultrasound training, covering theoretical knowledge and hands-on skills using Philips ultrasound devices. Courses will include training in vascular access, fistula cannulation, FAST exams, echocardiography, and more. Plans are also in place to extend these courses to larger markets in APAC, Philips channel partners, and clinical applications teams.
Expert-led training workshops will be conducted by Philips, with access to the Medical Sonography Simulation Lab at the Joondalup Campus for internal staff and channel partner training. This collaboration will facilitate the sharing of resources and expertise, as well as continuous engagement on course structure, faculty involvement, and student enrollment.
ECU’s Professor and Executive Dean of the School of Medical and Health Sciences, Moira Sim, emphasized the importance of providing innovative and practical courses to prepare healthcare professionals for the evolving healthcare landscape. Denilson Kuratomi, Head of Ultrasound at Philips APAC, highlighted the need for equipping healthcare professionals with skills to address healthcare challenges through digital transformation.
