SYDNEY, Nov. 21, 2024 /AAB/ — Tinder, the innovative dating app known for changing how people connect, has launched a national verification campaign in collaboration with Wesnet, the National Peak Body for specialist domestic and family violence services. This initiative aims to enhance user safety and build trust in online dating by encouraging users to become a Verified QT.

With an exclusive pop-up event at Bondi Beach on 29 November and a pledge to donate up to $20,000 to newly verified accounts for NGO partner WESNET, Tinder’s latest effort focuses on increasing authenticity and improving match rates through its ID and Photo Verification feature.

According to Tinder’s data, being verified is highly appealing to users, with a significant percentage expressing interest in verified profiles and a badge indicating verified status. Not only does verification enhance authenticity, but it also leads to higher match rates for users.

The Verified QT campaign will be brought to life at Bondi Beach on 29 November, where users can have their profile photos taken by renowned photographer Cybele Malinowski and receive personalized advice from Tinder’s local dating expert, Sera Bozza. The goal is to increase online dating safety and authenticity through the verification process.

For those unable to attend the event, all Australians are encouraged to participate in Tinder’s in-app verification drive. For every user who completes the ID and Photo Verification process from 12 November to 6 December, Tinder will donate $1 to Wesnet, up to a total of AUD$20,000, to support survivors of gender-based violence.

The ID + Photo Verification feature on Tinder profiles requires users to provide a video selfie and a valid Driver’s License or Passport. Once both steps are completed, users receive a blue checkmark and can proudly claim to be a Verified QT.

Tinder’s Communications Director in Australia, Kirsty Dunn, emphasized the importance of authenticity in online dating and highlighted the benefits of having a verified profile. The Verified QT campaign aims to promote trust, safety, and healthy relationships while raising funds for Wesnet.

Tinder’s local dating expert, Sera Bozza, emphasized the significance of profile verification in enhancing safety and meaningful connections in online dating. The Verified QT booth at Bondi Beach offers users an engaging way to improve their profiles and take control of their online dating experience.

Karen Bentley, CEO of WESNET, praised Tinder’s focus on trust, safety, and promoting healthy relationships. Verification not only confirms the authenticity of potential matches but also acts as a deterrent to misuse of technology.

The Verified QT campaign is part of Tinder’s ongoing efforts to prioritize user safety and build trust in online dating. With over 20 safety features released in the past three years, Tinder continues to set new standards for the industry.

In addition to the Verified QT campaign, Tinder has launched various initiatives focused on educating users on dating safety, including the Consent Course with Chanel Contos and the School of Swipe. These efforts aim to empower users to navigate the dating landscape safely and confidently.
